Elkins often visits the Outer Banks of North Carolina and has created the Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Ocracoke Lighthouse and Bald Head lighthouse prints. He carefully studies every detail and accurately describes each part of these historic monuments. Terry lives on Long Island in New York just a short distance from the Montauk Point Lighthouse, Cedar Island Lighthouse and the Fire Island Lighthouse.
